From face to face to virtual events, VSTE helps educators innovative with educational technology through the development of 21st century learning environments.
Our Annual Technology in Education Conference is a high energy gathering with nationally known keynote speakers and cutting edge technology and subject area integration sessions. The Hackerspace provides a playground for ed tech fun! Special strands focus on leadership and technical topics of interest to instructional and technical administrators.
Regional Mini-Conferences are held throughout the state during the year. These learning events bring the same excitement of the annual conference to a regional audience and include well-known keynote speakers and breakout sessions on technology integration topics. From our spring Brainstorm conference, held in conjunction with James Madison University, to our Summer of Learning events, VSTE extends its reach across the Commonwealth.
Virtual Learning opportunities allow our members and friends to easily connect with educators across the state. We hold free webinars and the archives are available on our website.
Our Virtual Environments Professional Learning Network holds weekly professional development in Minecraft, Second Life and other virtual worlds. On VSTE Island in Second Life, educators can also tour our simulations of Jamestown, Natural Bridge and Luray Caverns.
Through a partnership with Virginia Commonwealth University, VSTE is able to provide discounted access to VCU’s Certificate in Online Teaching. This two-year program is designed to prepare candidates to develop and facilitate effective online instruction in the K-12 environment.
