	US public libraries may apply for grants  to host public programs around the upcoming new PBS series  “THE GREAT AMERICAN READ ,” an eight-part television andonline series  designed to spark a national conversation about reading and the books that have inspired, moved, and shaped the American public. The series will launch on PBS stations with a two-hour special event  on May 22, 2018 , at 8:00 p.m . (ET ).
