Nation’s Highest Honors in Recognition of Excellent K–12 STEM Teaching
For nearly 40 years, the National Science Foundation, on behalf of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, has honored STEM teachers nationwide for both their deep content knowledge and their ability to motivate students. The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) are the highest honors bestowed by the United States government for K–12 STEM educators in public, private, and charter schools. PAEMST awardees, of which there are up to two per state and jurisdiction honored each year, receive a certificate signed by the President; a $10,000 award; a paid trip to Washington, DC; and access to a nationwide cadre of award-winning teachers.
The award alternates yearly between K–6 and 7–12 grades. This Academic Year 2022–2023, members of the public can nominate a teacher at the 7–12 level. Teachers may also directly apply themselves. Nominations are due by January 9, 2023, and applications are due by February 6, 2023. Learn more at www.paemst.org.
