All thing Google! For the third year, we bring you Googlepalooza, a day of Google-related workshops as well as the chance to network with others around GAFE and Chromebooks. Just $40 includes breakfast, lunch, all the M&Ms you can eat and some great door prizes.

Brainstorm 2016: What Inspires Us!

Memorial Hall,James Madison University, 395 South High Street, Harrisonburg, Virginia

Parking Information:
Brainstorm participants will be permitted to park in C8, R9 and C13 Lots between the hours of 7:00 AM and 4:00 PM on April 8. No parking permits will be necessary. The lot is located directly behind Memorial Hall on South Willow Street.  Check the map for help with locating Memorial Hall and the parking lot.

parkingmapjmuNOTE: All regulations for JMU students, faculty and staff will remain in effect, and students attending the event are required to park in appropriate student parking lots with a JMU parking permit. Regular enforcement will continue in other parking lots, and guests may receive parking citations if parked in restricted lots. Guests are prohibited from parking in specialty spaces such as Service Vehicle spaces, handicap spaces without proper permit, or expired meters. They are also prohibited from parking in Fire Lanes.

Brainstorm 2016 is held in a public space, therefore we do not prohibit participants, exhibitors, sponsors, or news organizations from photographing conference activities. We are NOT responsible for individual attendee’s use of your image or likeness.

Connected Educator Month Webinars

VSTE will be hosting three webinars for Connected Educator Month.  All of them will be held in our Adobe Connect meeting room: http://vste.adobeconnect.com/vstelive.

Wednesday, October 21, 7 PM: Learning and Making
Join Meg Swecker and Tina Coffey from Roanoke County to learn how they are implementing engineering and design through makerspaces.

Monday, October 26, 8 PM: Minecrafting History: Iterative learning, virtual environments and you
Join educators from The Madeira School as they share how Minecraft can be used as a meaningful tool for curriculum and student engagement in the history classroom. It will also discuss the importance of virtual environments, world building and citizenship as part of a social sciences course. There will be classroom examples, lesson artifacts and student observations regarding their experiences in-game to help demonstrate why the Minecraft enabled classroom offers a safe, iterative environment as well as meaningful learning experiences for students of all levels of digital literacy.

Wednesday, October 28, 7 PM: Coding for Students and Teachers
Join Marnie Hawk from Loudoun County and Charles Hinsch from Virginia Beach as they talk about how they are implementing coding programs for students and teachers. Marnie will describe the C.A.M.S. pilot program at Blue Ridge Middle School while Charlie discusses his work with teaching programming to adults as part of professional development.
