The subjects range from revolutionary France to twenty-first century America and points in between.

Essential STEM Resources to Spark Creativity

Quill.com helps educators launch the new school year with fresh lesson plans and activities, as well as products, supplies, and technology to create engaging and positive learning environments. Teachers can put their students’ creativity into high gear with 3D models and other STEM activities. They can brush up on their professional growth efforts (and receive a CE certificate) with relevant webinars on topics such as “Teaching with Technology,” “Tech As a Learning Tool,” and “Creating Brain-Friendly Classrooms.”

Developed by Little 10 Robots for iPhone and iPad, Calcugators – Additionimmerses students in entertaining gameplay while sharpening their addition skills. Although the app focuses on addition, students have a variety of ways to manipulate numbers and improve their overall number sense and problem solving skills.

Developed by Filament Games, That’s Your Right is a single or multiplayer digital card game that teaches students in middle school and high school about the first ten amendments of the US Constitution, known collectively as the Bill of Rights.

Intergenerational Oral Histories

The Great Thanksgiving Listen is a national movement that empowers high school students to create an oral history of the contemporary United States by recording an interview with an elder using the free StoryCorps app for iOS and Android.

Adventures Exploring Coding Concepts

SpriteBox Coding by LightBot is an adventure game for iOS and Android that gets students aged 6–8 coding. Students start from scratch by solving coding puzzles using icons.

IBM’s famous Watson computing system is helping to power a searchable database of mathematics open educational resources (OERs) designed for K–5 teachers.

Student-Led, Culturally Responsive Professional Development

An organization called Diversity Talks wants to provide K–12 school districts and higher education institutions student-led professional development on approaching culturally sensitive topics.

Program Developing Digital Citizenship Skills

Google and ISTE have teamed up to create a new way to teach digital citizenship. Be Internet Awesome, a program developed in concert with the Family Online Safety Institute, the Internet Keep Safe Coalition, and Connect Safely, educates youth about digital citizenship in interactive ways, including an online game.

Grants for Field Trips Connected to Classroom Curricula

Target Field Trip Grants are awarded to K–12 public, private, and charter schools nationwide to fund field trips that connect students’ classroom curricula to out-of-school experiences.

Challenge to Girls to Become Tech Entrepreneurs

Technovation offers girls around the world the opportunity to learn the skills they need in order to emerge as tech entrepreneurs and leaders. Technovation invites girls to identify a problem in their community and then challenges them to solve it.

Search and Rescue Game

A distress call from an emergency beacon goes off somewhere in the world. Satellites orbiting high above Earth receive the signal and relay the person’s location to search and rescue crews on the ground. In Rescue 406, an iOS mobile game by NASA, students use the information from these satellites to direct the rescue effort.
